Who are the Thomasian Cadet Officers?
Any one of them could be your classmate, your neighbor, or your friend. Just like any other
college student of the University, they are also required to finish their National Service
Program subject (NSP). Aside from choosing the Military Training Service (MTS) as their NSP
subject, they also volunteered to serve their fellow Thomasian MTS Cadets and Cadettes by
undergoing thorough and rigid trainings so that they can be qualified to lead, instruct, and
inspire patriotism among their fellow Thomasian MTS Cadets. They hold the rank of Cadet
Second Lieutenant (C/2Lt) up to Cadet Colonel (C/Col) and they are classified into 4
class-levels: the Fourth Class (4Cl), Third Class (3Cl), Second Class (2Cl), and the
First Class (1Cl). The 'First Class' is the highest level.
What are the trainings required of a Thomasian Cadet Officer?
Aside from the MS-1 training, an MTS cadet must enroll in the School for Cadet Officers
(SCO) and finish its 10-Sunday Training course. The Third Class up to the First Class Cadet
Officers must undergo Advance ROTC Training. Incoming Third Class and Second Class Officers
must finish the MS-23, MS-31, & MS-32 courses, while MS-41 & MS-42 are required for First
Class Officers. The Advance ROTC courses are held during summer vacation.
What are the benefits?
Thomasian Cadet Officers get 50% up to 100% scholarship. They may also take
their optional P.E. exemption. After finishing their Advance ROTC Courses, they can take up
the 3-months P.O.T.C. (Probationary Officers Traing Course) and be eligible for
commisionship in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Those who wish to pursue a
non-military career after graduating from college may find their experiences in the Corps
to be the foundation of their success. Cadet Officers are experts in Methods of Instruction.
A skill they can find very useful if they are concurrently pursuing a career in Education.
They are also exposed in the operation, logistics, and administration of the Corps making
them the best potential managers in the corporate jungle.
